Proper Deliming for Groen Steamer

Until recently, many commercial de-liming solutions or products utilized phosphoric acid as the primary
active ingredient. It has recently come to our attention, however, that certain de-liming manufacturers have
substituted a uronium hydrogen sulfate solution for the phosphoric acid that was previously used in their
products. This new uronium hydrogen sulfate solution has proven caustic to the metal properties of steam
generators and has led to early breaches, causing service issues that would not have occurred otherwise.
This being the case, any cleaning/deliming product that contains these harmful properties is no longer
recommended for use in steamers.
The Groen Delimer/Descaler (part numbers listed below) is a safe and effective product for use in deliming
your steamers. Groen recommends this product or any equivalent phosphoric acid-based solution for
steamer deliming/cleaning. Groen does not recommend deliming steamers with products that contain
hydrochloric, sulfuric, or other harmful properties.
